TWO-COMPONENT EPOXY ADHESIVE

TWO-COMPONENT EPOXY ADHESIVE

LOCTITE® EA 3450™ is a two-component epoxy resin that cures quickly at room temperature after mixing. It is an ideal adhesive for metals that develops high resistance. The filler properties make this adhesive suitable for porous surfaces such as metal, ceramic, rigid plastics and wood. Applications include bonding aluminium window frames and GRP panels.

Field of Application:

Ideal for metal repairs.

Advice:

This product is not recommended with pure oxygen and/or on oxygen-rich systems and must not be used as a sealant for chlorine or highly oxidising materials.

Advantages:

Two-component metal-filled epoxy adhesive with structural characteristics. Fast curing.

Instructions:

1. For best performance substrates must be cleaned and degreased.
2. For high strength structural bonding, remove contaminants from surfaces such as paint, oxides, oils, dust, release agents.
3. Dual cartridges: To use, simply insert the cartridge into the gun and insert the pistons into the cylinders by pushing with moderate force. Then remove the cap from the cartridge and eject a small amount of adhesive to make sure that both parts (resin and hardener) are extruded. Mix for approximately 15 seconds to obtain a uniform colour. Total product: Mix by weight or volume in the proportions described. Mix vigorously for 15 seconds to obtain a uniform colour.
4. For maximum adhesion force apply adhesive equally to both surfaces to be bonded.
5. Application to substrates should occur within 20 minutes. Large quantities of product and/or higher operating temperatures reduce processing time.
6. To obtain the optimum force, join the adhesive-coated surfaces and allow to cure at 25°C for 24 hours. Heating it up to 93°C increases the cure rate.
7. Avoid moving parts during the curing. Contact pressure must be made. Maximum cutting resistance is achieved with a bonding of 0.1–0.2 mm.
8. Excess liquid adhesive can be removed with organic solvents (e.g. acetone).
9. Clean any equipment before using the adhesive.
