HERMETIC SEALANT FOR GASKETS

LOCTITE® MR 5923™ seals close fitting parts, threaded connections and machined surfaces in industrial, aeronautical and marine applications. It is a slow-drying liquid that changes to a pliable, tacky film through solvent evaporation. Typical applications include solid gasket dressing, close-fitting machined surfaces, threaded connections, aviation engines and marine engines. The product is typically used in applications with an operating range of -54°C to +204°C.

Application area:

Gasketing and sealing. Easily applied to clean surfaces with brush or roller.

Field of Application:

For sealing cylinder heads and engine blocks, assembly of engineered surfaces, threaded fittings and hydraulic pumps. Pipe sealing for thermal systems.

Advantages:

Good resistance to water, ethylene glycol, fuel, motor oil, transmission fluid and sea water. Resistance to various substances allows for use on different flanges. For non-rigid flanges, slow drying, flexible grip.

Instructions:

1. Remove all residue from mating surfaces.
2. For best results, clean and prepare the area with an oil-free solvent.
3. Remove cap. Coat with brush-top applicator.
4. When used as a gasket dressing, spread product with a spatula to a uniform film on one side of gasket and then position it on the assembly. Coat the second side of gasket and re-assemble. Slower drying formula increases work time.
5. Assembly is operational after four hours; full cure is effective after 24 hours.
6. The product can be removed from metal surfaces with isopropyl alcohol. If the sealant has been dried for a long time or at high temperatures, cover it with alcohol and allow to soften overnight.

Clean-up
1. Clean hands with a hand cleaning agent.

Advice:

This product is not recommended for use in pure oxygen and/or oxygen-rich systems and should not be selected as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidising materials.
