New and innovative membrane technology eliminates any confusion regarding indoor or outdoor use of the tape

The uni3 Premium dual-purpose tape is a pre-compressed, moisture-variable tape for the airtight and driving rain-resistant sealing of window and door joints with simultaneous heat-insulating properties throughout the entire component depth. The integrated functional membranes ensure permanently dry connection joints.

Due to the innovative membrane technology, there is no defined installation direction. This eliminates any confusion regarding which is the inner side and which is the outer side of the tape.

Application area:

uni3 Premium dual-purpose tape for the professional sealing of window and door joints as well as connection joints of conservatories to masonry or other building connections. Due to the integrated, innovative functional membranes, it meets the highest sealing requirements and is passive house compliant.

Field of Application:

The uni3 Premium dual-purpose tape can be used for all areas of window joint sealing such as passive house construction, new construction, renovation and for heat/sound insulation.

Advantages:

  • Sealing of all functional areas in the window joint sealing with a single product

  • The inner and outer sides of the tape cannot be confused due to the innovative membrane technology

  • Resistant to driving rain in accordance with EN 1027 ≥ 1,050 Pa

  • Complies with DIN 18542:2020 stress group MF1 and MF2

  • Universally applicable - suitable for new buildings, renovation, for heat/noise insulation and for passive houses

  • Building material class B1 in accordance with DIN4102

  • Offers maximum protection against indoor air pollution - certified according to GEV-EMICODE® EC1plus - very low emissions

  • Very high airtightness and resistance to weathering

  • Very low air permeability of joints: a < 0.1 m³/(h·m·(daPa)²³)

  • Evaluated joint noise reduction value Rs,w 59 dB (not plastered)

  • Meets all the requirements of the German Buildings Energy Act and the German RAL quality assurance association

Advice:

Application:

The base material must be as level as possible. Smooth if necessary. The base material must be free from dust, release agents, oil, grease, moisture and dirt. The joint flanks should run as parallel as possible. The specifications for the joint widths must be maintained and must not be exceeded. This also applies in uneven areas. Conduct tests before applying on painted or sealed surfaces.

Remove approx. 20 cm of the masking paper. Bond the dual-purpose tape to the window frame with an overhang (lower joint width dimension). Then separate and affix the tape in the upper corner with an overhang (upper joint dimension). Butt join the rest of the tape in the corner while applying pressure and bond it flush to the window frame at the other end. Never place the dual-purpose tape around corners, in order to prevent leaky joints.

Butt join at the end of the roll and separate the last and first 5 cm in each case. Lay the ends of the tape against one another exactly while applying slight pressure. Do not bevel and do not lay with an overlap.

For the formation of the lower joint connection, we recommend primarily a moisture-variable film tape for indoor and outdoor use, such as our Vario window sealing tape (0800 500 et seq.).

The tape must always be installed without tension. If necessary, fill perpend joints and nicks with a suitable sealing compound, e.g. S78 bond and seal (0898 511 4).

In case of temperatures above 20 °C, the tape must be stored in a cool place before use. In case of cool temperatures below 8 °C, the tape should be kept at room temperature before installation if possible. The expansion properties of the tape are sped up by high temperatures and slowed down by low temperatures.

The tape must have completely filled the joint before a differential pressure measurement is performed. For this purpose, it should expand evenly for at least four weeks before the test.

Observe the installation instructions supplied with each box, in particular the information on the expansion properties and on mounting.
